- Waiting for Spring
It’s hard to believe that Spring is just 30 days away. In the past week, we’ve had snow and also 50 degree temps – it’s enough to make anyone crazy, especially an impatient gardener like me! A quick walk around my garden shows the ground is frozen in some spots but slowly thawing in others. According to the Connecticut DEP’s website, the average last frost date along the coast of CT, which includes Stamford and other zone 6 locales, is April 18th but I have seen other websites list it as late as mid-May. I can’t wait to see what the rest of this winter and then early spring has in store for us, hopefully not too much more of the white stuff you see in this photo. By the way, I took that photo of a clump of zebra grass (Miscanthus sinensis ‘Zebrinus’) in January.
