As Christmas nears and 2009 comes to a close, I have been trying to think of an appropriate topic for a post that would be inspirational, fun and hopefully thought-provoking. Well, I couldn’t come up with anything original so I thought I would share with you some of my favorite quotes about gardening and gardeners. I hope you’ll enjoy my gift to you and also share any of your favorite quotes that are not listed below.
- The soul cannot thrive in the absence of a garden. – Thomas Moore
- The only limit to your garden is at the boundaries of your imagination. – Thomas Church
- The most noteworthy thing about gardeners is that they are always optimistic, always enterprising, and never satisfied. They always look forward to doing something better than they have ever done before. – Vita Sackville-West
- Gardening, boring? Never! It has suspense, tragedy, startling developments – a soap opera growing out of the ground. Paul Fleischman from Seedfolks
- Should you want happiness for a lifetime, plant a garden. – Chinese proverb
Happy Christmas!

I’ll add a recent quote we both received from Doug Tallamy … Garden as if life depended on it!
Enjoy your holiday.
That’s the perfect addition to the list of gardening quotes. Thanks.
