Are you delirious for daylilies? Can’t get enough of these colorful summer beauties? I have to admit they’re not my favorite flower but even I was enthralled by this colorful display at O’Brien’s nurserymen in Granby, CT. I count 30 different flowers on the table but according to owner John O’Brien, just a few weeks ago he was displaying 100 different daylily flowers!
I think Starlight (in the 1st photo) is my favorite. Which daylily catches your fancy?

Wow, love it, Debbie! I like Starlight best too, followed by that dark one in the center shot, the one with the bright yellow center. It’s so neat to see them all laid out like that.
Gen, I think that one’s called Bela Lugosi – gotta love that name for a blood red flower!
That daylily table was genius! Agree ‘Starlight’ is quite nice – also ‘Lime Frost.’
Cyndy,
I agree, that table caught my eye immediately and it was such a neat way to really be able to compare the flowers one right next to the other. I guess with all those hosta to compete with, John needs to do some major marketing for the flowers!
I’m not a daylily lover either but Limefrost sure does look nice. Maybe one day I’ll learn to love daylilies.
Marguerite, Lime Frost is a nice subtle one. I think you would have been won over by the table display, it was a great sales tool. I waish I had seen it when John was displaying 100 different blooms.
I have been shopping for daylilies this past weekend and decided to buy a very pretty yellow one with a crinkled edge.
O’Brien Nursery is a definite treat. The hosta collection is amazing and I also love the daylily display. The photo of it on the website is fantastic.
Of those above I like Lime Frost and August Frost – both would look great with purples and blues. I have one similar to Lavender Stardust. With all the varieties of daylilies available I find it hard to believe there is not one for every taste.
[...] A surprisingly low growing maple, Acer palmatum 'Yatsubusa Kiyohime'. It tops out at about a foot to 18 inches tall – yes, it remains at that height – and spreads to six to eight feet wide. Rumor has it that Debbie at A Garden of Possibilities walked out with one for her garden. … we'll watch for her future report. (see Debbie's post on O'Brien's daylilies) [...]
