Here in the northeast, Mother Nature played a big trick on us this weekend, sweeping through with a historic snowstorm – Snowtober.
Like many of you, I will be spending part of the day cleaning up my garden and assessing the damage left behind.
But in honor of the day, I thought I’d offer up a special treat and provide links to several posts about black foliage plants and using them in designed gardens, and containers. Happy Halloween, enjoy the feast!

I love black foliage…so interesting…of course my dahlias are sporting black foliage now after the recent freeze
Donna, Ah yes, the wrong kind of black foliage is never the same, is it?
Nice twist on a Halloween post.
Thanks, Ricki.
Sorry to hear you got hit with snow. We were very fortunate here, the wind howled and the rain came down hard but I was happily not worried about the garden. I can’t imagine having trees full of leaves and that heavy snow coming down on top.
Marguerite, It is very strange to look outside and see snow on the grounds and the autumn leaves on the trees. It still takes a moment to realize that is not normal…even though it is beautiful.
Debbie, thanks so much for the mention! Love reading about black plants anyway, but Halloween really gets me stoked on them. Great set of links.
You’re most welcome, Gen. Your original post inspired me to write my round-up post so I should be thanking you.
