    • Joene, This has been an amazing year for viburnum berries. I’ve had some of my viburnum for almost 10 years and this is the most prolific berry-ing year I can remember. I’ve noticed other doublefile viburnums around the area that are also loaded with berries so I guess the crazy winter and/or spring contributed to the bounty this summer.

  1. I have an enormous double viburnum I planted as a seedling many years ago (maybe 10?). It is covered every year with flowers and then berries, but I NEVER see the berries like this becus the birds go crazy for them long before they ripen.

    • Fern, I have to say this is the first year I’ve seen such an abundance of berries myself. Typically there are a few clusters of berries here or there scattered about the shrub but nothing like the amazing display this year. The bds did manage to pick all the berries clean within about 3 weeks so I think they enjoyed the bounty as much as I did.
