I know…I have to say that my Callicarpa berries never look this these ones. I took this photo in one of my client’s gardens because I couldn’t believe all the amazing hues & shades of the berries.
Funny, I was more in the shades of red myself at Botanic Bay ; the vines shine bright at this time of year and beautifully echo the acers. What does your lovely purple variation match in the garden ?
Celine, Good question. The purple berries are a wonderful contrast to the white flowers of Eupatorium rugosum and also any of the asters, which come in so many lovely shades.
This is certainly when that plant shines for you all “in the east”!
David, You’re so right, this is definitely one of the stars of our autumn gardens here ‘in the east’.
Wow. No other plant has that shade of purple (lavender? grape? amethyst?) berry!

Just fabulous…love the purples
I did a double take when I walked by the shrub the other day. I couldn’t believe the range of colors on just a few branches.
